Tis the season to be jolly but is it the season to sell your home? The answer in the simplest terms is YES!

Many years ago, there has been an increase of buyers looking for properties over the festive break, and the days of the market ‘slowing down’ for Christmas is a thing of the past. Rightmove generally receives around 1.1 million views per day, but over Christmas, this increases to 4 million-plus per day.

House hunting is more accessible now than ever, with 90% of house hunters searching for their new homes on mobile devices. And those unwrapping new smartphones and tablets on Christmas Day are eager to house hunt too with over 26,000 downloads of the Rightmove app across various platforms.

With this in mind, there has never been a better time to get your property on the market ready for Christmas shoppers with Christmas Day seeing 4 million-page views on Rightmove alone and over 10,000 people taking time out of festivities to get in touch with agents. Boxing Day increased even more with page views jumping to over 4.5 million and views peak further on New Year's Eve with over 5 million page views.

As soon as the new year rolls around, the traffic numbers continue to climb, but so does the amount of properties being brought to the market which means that pages are swamped and your home – unless exceptional – is likely to get lost amongst the masses.

The age-old problem remains that estate agents tend to close for the entire festive period which this year means closing on 22nd December and not opening until 2nd January next year; and, once back in the office, taking a few days to catch up on the past 11 days unanswered property enquiries.
