I read an article recently which claimed a large chunk of the UK’s population are addicts.

Porn addicts no less – actually to be precise – property porn addicts.

The report from a home insurance company said 63 per cent of the country’s population admitted to window shopping property online with no intention of buying.

In fact for those who like their statistics, Rightmove , the largest property portal, has 21 million visitors a month, yet last year only 1.2 million housing transaction took place across the UK!! That means that 99.96% of people looking at Rightmove are NOT buying.  That’s a lot of browsers and also why a large amount of our properties sell before they are advertised on Rightmove.

They confessed to snooping around to check their home’s value, seeing what was selling in their neighbourhood and to look at houses with a real wow factor.

The tabloid newspapers labelled these dream homes of the rich and famous ‘property porn’ hence the reference.

The ranks of the addicted might just be browsing but at Orchards Estates we attract serious buyers who don’t just ‘kick tyres’ but who want to buy their dream home.

Incidentally in another report I read recently that the nation’s ideal home isn’t a Caribbean mansion but a 3.5 bed room, detached house with a south facing garden which is close to transport and local shops.
