First impressions are everything.  You’re gearing up to selling your home, de-cluttering and making sure the house looks presentable.  One of the most overlooked but important factors to consider is the presentation of your front door. Does it need a lick of paint? Are there weeds invading the doorstep? Do you have a brass letterbox in need of a good polish?

Increasingly we find our buyers are doing a ‘drive-by’ before committing to viewing a home.  It’s likely that they’ll already have viewed our walk through videos and they’ve now decided to take their interest to the next level and have a wander by before telephoning us.   A glance at the outside of the house now gives your prospective buyer an indication into whether or not a seller has looked after their home.  Even if they are willing to overlook poor presentation at the front of a property, a surveyor is likely to mention in his report that there are decorative remedial works required.  On a timber door, for example, if the paintwork is not kept up together it is entirely possible that rot will set in presenting you with a greater issue than had you regularly maintained the door.

The exciting thing about giving your door a fresh coat of paint is the marvellous range of colours to choose from. Which colour will you choose?

Competition time!

Post a picture of your front door and win a bottle of Prosecco! Presentation is everything. We are looking for the smartest looking door in Somerset. To win, email a picture of your door. Make sure it’s looking good. Orchards has teamed up with Somerset interior designer Tradchap who will be helping to decide which door is a winner!

Rules: submit one image per property via email, twitter or Facebook. Competition closes at midnight on Sunday and the winner will be announced early next week!

What are we looking for? Elegant fittings, smart paintwork, planting .. something unique! But also think about the composition of the photo itself.
